General Information About Bhutan

GETTING THERE :
Druk Air flies every Monday between Kathmandu & Paro. Cost for one way trip is US$ 175 per person & US$ 350 for round trip. The national airlines of Bhutan, Druk Air operates with connection from Calcutta, Delhi, Dacca and Bangkok. It is also possible to enter/exit Bhutan by overland transportation, stopping en route at Sikkim &Darjeeling (India). (Air fare schedule & price are subject to change without prior notice) Diplomats (holding passport) accredited to Bhutan shall be given a 25% discount in tour cost if they come in a group of 2pax and above.

BOOKING CONDITIONS :

It would help to book at least 90days in advance, as the infrastructure in Bhutan can handle only a limited number of tourists. The months of April, May, October and November normally have many festivals being celebrated at that time, and tourism is at its height during this period. However, at least two weeks prior to your tour, a booking with passport details and payment of tour should reach us.There will be a cancellation charge of 50% for confirmed booking until 7 days prior to departures whereas, no refund thereafter. No refund for no shows & delay arrivals of the clients whatsoever reason.

Best hotels in PARO & THIMPU and in other places Guest House/Lodges in modest heated rooms with attached bath.

16mm film camera are prohibited in Bhutan. Also Photography in some of the Monasteries & Djongs are not allowed.

Glimpses of Bhutan (03 Nights and 04 Days )

Day 01(MON) : Fly to Paro on Druk Air. You will be met and transferred to Thimpu, capital city of Bhutan (65 kms/2 hours). Overnight at a hotel.

Day 02(TUE) :
Full day sightseeing tour of Thimpu.

  • AM : Sightseeing tour of Zeleukha Nunnery, National Library and Memorial Chorten of His Majesty Late Jigme Dorjee Wangchuk.
  • PM : Stroll down town to the Handicraft Development Corporation, which displays all
    kinds of traditional handicraft products of Bhutan.

    Day 03(WED) :
    Thimpu - Paro (65kms/2hrs.)
  • AM : After breakfast drive leisurely to Paro.
  • PM : Drive through the Paro valley to see the Drukgyel Dzong/ Kyichu Lhakhang. On a clear day can see the Majestic Jhomolhari mountain or better known ad the mountain of Goddess(7314mts.). Also visit the National Museum located in the Ta Dzong which displays a rich collection of fine arts and weapons. Overnight Hotel.

    DAY 04(THU) :· Drive to airport to your flight.

    MYSTIC BHUTAN
    ( 04 Nights and 05 DAYS )

    DAY 01(THU/MON) : Fly to Paro and drive to Thimpu (65kms./2hr).
    · Upon arrival meet, assist and drive to Thimpu. O/nt .hotel.

    DAY 02(FRI/TUE) : Thimpu: Full day local sightseeing tour.
  • AM : visit the memorial Chorten of the Late king Jigme Dorgee Wangchuk in the heart of Thimpu town /The Tashichhodzong, "The fortress of the auspicious Religional."
  • PM : Scroll downtown to the Handicraft Development Corporation which displays all kinds of traditional handicraft products of Bhutan. O/nt. Hotel.

    DAY 04(SUN/THU) : :Paro:Excursion to Taktsang Lhakang.
  • AM: After breakfast drive to Sartsham Chorten and then two hours of horse riding uphill will take you to the Taksang cafeteria.After refreshment a short trek to the view point to witness a fascinating eye level view of the famous Taksang Lhakhang also known as the tigers nest.
  • PM : After lunch a slow downhill trek to Sartsham Chorten and then drive to hotel. O/nt/hotel.

    DAY 05(MON/FRI) :

    · Drive to airport for your flight or exit by overland.

    ACROSS THE KINGDOM (07 Nights and 08Days )

    DAY01(MON/THU) : Fly to Paro and drive to Thimpu (65kms./2hrs.) O/nt.Hotel.

    DAY02(TUE/FRI) : Thimpu: Full day local sightseeing tour.

  • PM: Visit the historic Punakha Dzong once the seat of the old capital of Bhutan. The magnificent Dzong is sprawled between the Phochu and Mochu rivers. O/nt.hotel.

    DAY/04(THU/SUN) : Punakha-Bhumanthang(210kms./8hrs.approx.)
  • AM: Early morning drive to the valley of Bhumanthang through the Totola pass (3440mts). This valley is considered a very sacred place for the Bhutanese with many temples and holy places. ) O/nt. At Bhumanthang Tourist Lodge.

    DAY/05(FRI/MON) :
  • AM: Drive to Mebartsho (burning lake).This gorge is the holy site and pilgrimage place where Guru Rimpoche had hidden religious treasures later discovered by Terton Pema Lingpa.Visit the Swiss Farm where you can buy excellent local made cheese.
  • PM: Visit the Jakar Dzong (castle of white bird).Built in 1549 this Dzong houses the administrative center of Bhumanthang.Visit Kurjey Lhakang , the most sacred and popular monastery in Bhumanthang . O/nt.at Bhumanthang Tourist Lodge.

    DAY06(SAT/TUE) : Bhumanthang –Thimpu (267kms./8hrs.approx.)
  • AM: Early morning drive to Thimpu via Tongsa and Wang diphodrang .O/nt.Hotel.

    DAY07(SUN/WED) :
    Thimpu –Paro (65kms./2hrs)
  • AM: Visit Drukgyel Dzong /Kyichu Lhakang &The National Museum.
  • PM: Excurcion to Takstang Lhakang.

    DAY08(MON/THU) :
    · Drive to airport for your flight of exit by overland.
